Double Dayl's Gift - provide 55 nights for a family at Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House holds a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget the first day I walked into the House. I sat down to colour with a little girl - she was about three or four. I asked her if she wanted to sit on my lap. She said yes. As I reached out, her father leaned in and said, “Please pick her up by the legs. She just had a heart transplant.” That was the moment, over 20 years ago now, that I knew this is such a special place. Ronald McDonald House ensures every sick child has family by their side throughout their treatment. Throughout the threat of COVID-19, the House has remained open as an essential service. These families are already facing so much stress and uncertainty because of their child’s illness. They need the comfort and sanctuary that the House provides now more than ever. As a member of the House’s Development Committee, I became painfully aware of the shortfall in funding this year due to the cancellation of the various events that usually provide a significant amount of funds to keep the House running and the families together. I knew I had to do something more to help. You all know I love to travel but I won’t risk getting on a plane anytime soon. Making a donation to help families stay at the house seemed like the best use for all those dollars saved. Of course, travel is not the same without friends and family. And that’s why I wanted to include you as well. I’m reaching out asking you to help me double my gift. Together I hope we can raise $10,000 – which will give a family 55 nights at the House in a safe COVID-19 free environment.
