Following the 2026 Annual General Meeting, we are pleased to officially welcome new appointments to the Ronald McDonald House Canada Board of Directors, including Dr. Krista Jangaard, President & CEO of IWK Health, Bruce Squires, President & CEO of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, and Annemarie Swijtink, President & CEO of McDonald’s Canada.  

These visionary leaders bring a passion for our national mission, critical expertise and diverse perspectives to further advance the essential support Ronald McDonald House across Canada provides to families with critically sick and injured children. 

Alongside Board Chair, Ross Betteridge, President & CEO, Kate Horton and our full leadership team, the National Board plays a critical role in helping Ronald McDonald House grow responsibly, expand access to care, and ensure more families can stay together and close to their child when it matters most.  

Meet our Newest Board Directors

Dr. Krista Jangaard 
President & CEO, IWK Health  

Dr. Jangaard is a respected leader in pediatric and academic medicine. Her career has included progressive clinical and leadership roles, including Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Division Head of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, before becoming CEO of IWK Health in 2018. 

In addition to her executive role, Krista is an associate professor at Dalhousie University and current Chair of Children’s Healthcare Canada. She brings a strong combination of clinical insight, system leadership, and commitment to families navigating complex medical journeys.

Bruce Squires 
President & CEO, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital 

Bruce is a seasoned healthcare executive with extensive experience across Canada’s pediatric and philanthropy sectors. As President and CEO of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, and in prior leadership roles at Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and McMaster Children’s Hospital, he has advanced innovation in paediatric care and strengthened community partnerships. 

Bruce brings deep expertise in fundraising, public affairs, and organizational leadership, along with a longstanding commitment to improving outcomes for children and families. Bruce previously served on the Ronald McDonald House South Central Ontario Board of Directors.

Annemarie Swijtink 
President & CEO, McDonald’s Canada 

Annemarie has nearly three decades of experience across the McDonald’s System, including executive leadership roles in marketing, digital customer engagement, impact, and data analytics.  

A longstanding champion of the mission, Annemarie brings deep experience, strategic insight, and a global perspective to the Board, strengthening and advancing Ronald McDonald House and McDonald’s shared commitment to supporting families and communities across Canada.

In addition to welcoming new members over the past year, we extend our sincere gratitude to our outgoing Board Directors – Michèle Boudria, Francesca Cardarelli, Gemma Hinksman, Ryan McCullough, Katharine Smart, and Past Chair Karima Karmali – for their dedicated service and lasting contributions in support of families staying with Ronald McDonald House across Canada. Their leadership has strengthened support for families and laid a strong foundation for continued growth, as Ronald McDonald House across Canada increases support across the country.
