Piekema's Pay Back! Layton and Landon were born with a rare genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in many different organs, primarily in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. The aspects of TSC that most strongly impact quality of life are generally associated with the brain: seizures, developmental delay, intellectual disability and autism.  The incidence and severity of the various aspects of TSC can vary widely between individuals—even between identical twins.) We have called the RMHCNA our home on many occasions and are so grateful to have such a kind, caring, generous, loving and accepting community to call home while we are in Edmonton. Life can change in a blink of an eye and for famiies with sick children, the whirlwind is uncomprehendable. Having the home to go to during some of our family's darkest hours has been a blessing. Because of the house we were able to stay together as a family and give our boys some comfort and normality! It was just three short years ago that we were life flighted to Edmonton because Landon started having seizures. Seeing the fear in our sons eyes as the seizures took over his body was life changing for all of us. We as a family want to help "Pay Back" to a charity that is so near and dear to our hearts. Layton and Landon are now fund raising to support of RMHCNA at the Inaugural Superhero Soiree event in Grande Prairie where the top fundraiser will receive a family vacation!
