THE COMMITTEE PRESENTS KEEPING FAMILY CLOSE

The Committee is a group of 6 friends who grew up attending different Scarborough high schools, but ended up remaining good friends 30 years later. As we gathered to mourn the loss of our brother Gus' Father (RIP), a group of about 12 friends started talking about how bad it is that we all still live in the GTA, and often it unfortunately takes sad occasions like that to bring us together. So a few of us decided to throw a party, "Just a party" is how it started. After some discussion, supporting a cause was mentioned. We then thought of supporting a specific family that was dealing with a sick child. A call to RMH was placed and we were guided regarding the difficulty in supporting one specific family. Once we were assured that all the money raised goes to the families in need, we decided as a group that RMH was where we wanted our donation to go. That's when "KEEPING FAMILY CLOSE" was born. Our first year we shocked ourselves and the RMH staff by raising $10,000! Last year, our second, we had a lofty goal of doubling that to $20,000. With the help of our amazing friends and families, along with some incredible corporate support, we raised $30,000!!! Who'd have thought that a party with DJ's and a great venue and amazing friends and family could raise $40,000 in 2 years?! The Committee is very proud, and it does our hearts good, to know that the money we raise is utilized for such an amazing cause!!
