For those who may not know, Evan and I recently became parents after a very long journey to get here. It was something we had hoped, prayed, and waited for for a long time, and when that moment finally came, it was filled with more love than we could have ever imagined—but also more fear than we were prepared for. Very early on, we got the call that our baby needed NICU care, and suddenly our world shifted. Nothing prepares you for that moment. The worry, the uncertainty, the helplessness—it all hits at once. What we didn’t expect was how much support we would need too. Ronald McDonald House welcomed us with open arms during one of the hardest and most emotional times of our lives. They gave us more than just a place to stay—they gave us comfort when everything felt uncertain. They fed us every day, free of charge. They gave us a warm shower after long days in the hospital. They gave us a bed to sleep in when sleep felt impossible. Most importantly, they gave us the chance to stay close to our baby when every second mattered. They made sure we could focus on being parents instead of worrying about where we would eat, sleep, or how we would afford it. You never think you’ll need a place like Ronald McDonald House—until you do. Today, on McHappy Day, we are giving back to the place that helped carry us through one of the most difficult chapters of our lives. If you can, please consider donating.
