The Michael D’Urso Fund: Meals For Families during COVID-19

The Michael D'Urso Fund will be supporting the new initiative: Meals For Families program at Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto, and by making a donation and sharing this page, together, we can provide seriously ill children and their families with a safe and nutritious dinner; providing peace of mind and critical support to them during this extraordinary crisis. RMHC Toronto is experiencing a time of great need as programs shift in response to COVID-19, including cancellation of fundraising events and volunteer meal programs, all while families and hospital partners continue to look to RMHC Toronto for support. To ensure the families at Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto continue to receive nutritious and safely prepared meals in light of the COVID-19 crisis they have implemented a new program called Meals for Families. This meal program is a vital adaptation of our popular Home For Dinner program, which saw volunteers come into the House to prepare meals for families. Our families rely on these meals as they often don’t have the time or inclination to cook for themselves after a long day at the hospital. Serving hot prepared meals helps maintain the health of the family and important normal routines. As our families are being asked to spend as much time as possible in their rooms to adhere to social distancing rules, this essential new program is providing all families in the House with nutritious and safely catered dinners that are individually packaged and delivered straight to their rooms every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.at 6 p.m. Set menus and order forms are dropped off at each door on Sunday evenings for the following week and families are asked to let us know what menu items they would like. No support is too big or too small. $2,500 is what it takes to provide all seriously ill children and their families staying at the House during this crisis with a safe and nutritious meal.
